The Anacortes School District and Anacortes Police Department continue to collaborate to ensure school safety, in light of this week’s threats left on district voicemails. Non-specific bomb threats were left on a district voicemail on Saturday, May 29 and Tuesday, June 1.

ASD and APD staff continue to check our buildings for any suspicious items or activity. Nothing has been found in any district building or property. We will continue to have safety protocols in place throughout the week.

Next steps

APD will continue its investigation, with the district’s full cooperation. If you have any information regarding these threats, please contact APD at 360-428-3211, reference case number 21-A03444.

Communications Procedures

During emergency or urgent situations, the district communicates in the following ways:

We have heard concerns from some families that students received the email before the parent, or that parents would like an opportunity to discuss this with their student first. We will review our communication protocols, and make adjustments based on this feedback. If you have questions, or need to update any of your contact information, please contact Torhil Ramsay, tramsay@asd103.org or (360) 503-1211.

Student safety is our highest priority. We work to ensure their safety every single day, not just when we have a potential threat. We appreciate everyone’s flexibility, patience, and feedback.

Questions? Contact Superintendent Justin Irish, jirish@asd103.org, 360-503-1211.
