All ASD students and staff now have expanded access to digital resources through a partnership between the Anacortes Public Library, the Anacortes Public Library Foundation, and the school district. APL recently expanded its HOOPLA account, which provides instant access to thousands of titles and each item is available on demand. All ASD students automatically receive a public library card upon enrollment with the district.
This means that every student now has access to 10 digital downloads on HOOPLA every month, including audiobooks, ebooks, graphic novels, music, and more. With no wait time, every student in the school could read the same book if it's available on HOOPLA. They can immediately download the HOOPLA app or click on the HOOPLA link from the library website (https://www.anacorteswa.gov/220/Library) and login with their library card number and PIN. A student's PIN is automatically set up to be the last four digits of their library card number.
As always, we recommend talking to your child about what they're reading, and using the service together initially to see what is available. Parents can choose to set their child's account to “kids only” mode to curate content. If at any time you would like to opt-out of the Student Library Card for your family, please contact the Anacortes School District (information@asd103.org or 360-503-1200.)
Thank you to the Anacortes Public Library Foundation and its generous donors for supporting this partnership to ensure all students have equitable access to resources as we empower discovery through support of remote learning and access.
