Parent Education Wellness Series - Paper Tigers Documentary
Topic is "Adverse Childhood Experiences"
Film: “Paper Tigers”
Please consider joining Mayor Laurie Gere, Police Chief Bonnie Bowers and Superintendent Mark Wenzel to view and discuss the hard-hitting film Paper Tigers on Wednesday January 11, 6:15 to 9 pm at Island View Elementary auditorium.
The educational documentary was directed by Robert Redford's son, James, and filmed in Walla Walla. It explores the concept of ACEs, or Adverse Childhood Experiences that can lead to social, emotional and learning challenges as well as future health outcomes. It's an extremely powerful film that explains the impact on learning environments and also challenges a community to think deeply about relationships and compassion for students and families in crisis.
This documentary is unrated but, due to language and content, is most suited for older teens and adults. It would not be appropriate for young children. However, childcare is available upon request, so that parents and caregivers are able to attend.
