Signs of Suicide Parent Info Night
This training is geared toward middle and high school families, but open to anyone.
The Anacortes School District will be providing a National, Evidence Based, Suicide Prevention training for all Middle and High School Students beginning the end of January and continuing through February of this year. We have chosen the curriculum called Signs of Suicide that is created through Screening For Mental Health, Inc.
The SOS Signs of Suicide Prevention Program is the only youth suicide prevention program that has demonstrated an improvement in students' knowledge and adaptive attitudes about suicide risk and depression, as well as a reduction in actual suicide attempts. SOS is a universal, school-based depression awareness and suicide prevention program designed for middle-school and high-school students.
Both the middle and high school programs provide age-appropriate materials for students. There are also materials for staff, families, and community members that outline the program objectives and prevention efforts. There will be a parent and community information session on January 13th, 2022 in the Anacortes High School Commons from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. This will be facilitated by an outside trainer.
This presentation will be livestreamed, and posted afterwards if you can't attend in person: https://youtu.be/blNmnsryRII
