The Anacortes School Board is committed to open and transparent governance of our school district.


Current Vacancy 

There is currently a vacancy on the Anacortes School Board due to the early resignation of Marilyn Hanesworth. The board will appoint someone to fill the reminder of her term which will expire in November, 2023. 

The appointee will have the option of running for the seat in the November, 2023 election. The board is currently accepting applications for the vacancy, through January 13 at 5 p.m. 

 

Requirements 

  • Appointee must reside within boundaries of the Anacortes School District 
  • Appointed/ elected directors must file an annual financial disclosure with the Public Disclosure Commission 
  • Adhere to state, district, and board policies 

 

Application Process & Timeline: 

  • Applications are being accepted through January 13, 5 p.m. 

  • Information Night - an information night was held on January 5th

  • Candidate interviews, open to the public: January 25, 2023, 5:15-8:30 p.m. 

  • Swearing In Ceremony for new appointee: February 23, 2023, 6:15 p.m.
