HISTORY LESSON

2023 was a historic year for Anacortes football - it was the first time the Seahawks played in a state championship game and the 1st recognized state championship for AHS. But that doesn’t mean AHS teams haven’t claimed the title of “state champs” on the grid iron, as the 1928 Hawks did after their undefeated season. In the years before state playoffs existed, Anacortes had a few no-loss seasons.
It is interesting to note that the official state football tournament began just 50 years ago, in 1973, according to the Washington Interscholastic Athletics Association (WIAA).

Here's a link from the Anacortes Museum that has a lot of awesome information about the history of Anacortes Football.
