Welcome to the 2023-24 school year!
Autumn is my favorite time of year. The air turns brisk, the leaves trade colors, and when I’m lucky, I smell a hint of wood-stove smoke in the air as I walk to school.
AND…your students return to Island View and fill the building with energy, smiles, and curiosity. Fall is indeed a blessed time of year.
With retirements and staff shifts due to budget challenges, Island View welcomes many new staff members, including:

- Lisa Crinklaw—1st grade

- Anna Deville—3rd grade
- Madison Bowen—5th grade
- Laura Dennis—Office
- Andy Fountain will be in a behavioral management role half-time, while job-sharing 5th grade math with Ms. Powell.
This year our before-school recess starts at 8:45, not 8:35. Please do not drop off or send your students before that time because we will not have supervision outside. With change comes beauty and excitement. I bumped into an Island View parent at Safeway, and he told me his daughter wanted school to start two weeks ago. I loved it. Yet I also know that change can lead to anxiety and tension. If at any point your student needs extra support this school year, please reach out to me.
